Left arm spinner Gurinder Singh was the hero of the Indian side after skipper Kanul Mahajan laid the foundation as his four wicket haul helped India to bundle out the Pakistan team for a score of 121.

Gurnider was supported by the right arm pace and spin combination of Rattan Singh and Simran Singh who together shared five wickets between them to restrict the Pakistan batsmen. Ammar Hasan was the only Pakistan batsman to make any impression.
Earlier in the day D.A.V. College invited to take first lease of the wicket got off to an inauspicious start losing their first three wickets within a space of under four overs and only two runs on the board.

But the Pakistan bowlers failed to keep up the momentum as skipper Kunal along with man in form Gurinder Singh tore the opposing attack to all parts of the field. The pair added a quick fire 87 runs in only 54 balls for the fifth wicket to lift the side to 123 for 5. Skipper Kunal paid scant respect as he slammed seven sixes and three boundaries for a 36 ball knock of 73.

By the time he was dismissed his side was back on track with the last four overs producing 47 runs. D.A.V. College ended their innings making a challenging score of 170 for 8.

The tournament saw six Campus teams from England, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and hosts Sri Lanka vying for honours in this inaugural Red Bull Campus Cricket World Cup.

D.A.V. College India 170 for 8 in 20 overs (Kunal Mahajan 73, Gurinder Singh 39, Simran Singh 16, Piyush Sharma 24 n.o.: Meer Hamza 2 for 22, Nabeel Khalid 2 for 28, Mirza Jamil 2 for 35)

Karachi University Pakistan 121 in 19 overs (Ammar Hasan 58: Gurinder Singh 4 for 20, Rattan Singh 3 for 16, Simran Singh 2 for 31)
