Shuttle champion Niluka to tour India and South Korea

Sri Lanka’s national badminton champion Niluka Karunarathna will shortly tour India and South Korea to participate in two international tournaments.

In India he will take part in the International India Grand Prix Gold Badminton Championship in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow which will be held from December 18 to 23rd.

In Seoul, South Korea, Niluka will participate in the Victor Korea Open Badminton OSIM BWF Super Series Premier 2013 from January 8 to 13 at SK Handball Stadium (Olympic Gymnasium 2).

Niluka was placed among the first 16 in the London Olympics Badminton Single’s Championship and he is tipped to win these tournaments; according to Badminton experts. At the last Olympics Niluka also beat the world No 8, Japanese – Kenichi Tago.
Niluka is the National badminton Champion for 11 consecutive years. Now, 27 years of age, Niluka is the brother of Dinuka Karunarathna both of them are doubles National Champions.

Niluka is an Old Boy of Royal Collage, Colombo, His father; Louie Karunarathna is the current National Coach.
