Sandesh and Ruvini shine at WP TT tourney

Sandesh Nissanka of Ananda College and Ruvini Kannangara of Musaeus College were adjudged the most outstanding players at the Western Province Open Ranking Junior Table Tennis Championship, which was conducted at the Lalith Athulathmudali College Indoor tadium recently.

The tournament was conducted by the St. John’s Sports Club, Nugegoda.

Sandesh Nissanka claimed a double when he beat Lithmina Mahanama of Wesley College 11/09, 11/07 to win the boys Under 15 singles and the Under 18 singles, defeating Senal Ratnayake of Royal College in a three setter 11/02, 04/11, 11/08.

In the Under 18 girls’ singles, Ruvini Kannangara beat Chamathsara Fernando of Girls’ High School, Mount Lavinia 12/10, 11/05 to reach the final of the Under 15 singles. However, she was runner up to Kithmadie Ranawaka of Visakha Vidyalaya.
