International school cricketers wait for green light

The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association has made a request to the Education Ministry that International Schools also be given permission to participate in inter-school cricket tournaments in the future.

However, the ministry indicated that this request would be considered only if they got an assurance that their participation in the tournament would not hamper matters of discipline.

At present mixed schools participate in the tournaments without any hindrance.

If permission is granted to international schools, they should be prepared to maintain the game’s high standard of discipline.

Meanwhile a spokesman for the Education Ministry said it has been decided to reduce the number of participating teams in Division One school cricket.
