Tokyo Cement Group Honoured for Impactful CSR at SLIM Brand Excellence 2025
View(s):Tokyo Cement Group has been recognised for its long-standing dedication to sustainability and community development, receiving the CSR Brand of the Year Merit Award at the SLIM Brand Excellence 2025 Awards. The honour reflects the company’s impactful environmental conservation and social empowerment initiatives that contribute to national progress.
Its major environmental programmes include mangrove restoration, forest plant nurseries, coral reef rehabilitation, and marine biodiversity conservation. The Group has planted nearly 100,000 mangrove saplings across northern and eastern coastlines and supplied over 116,000 forest trees from its nurseries. Through its innovative Coral Reef Rehabilitation Project, Tokyo Cement has repurposed concrete waste to create over 1,000 reef balls, enhancing marine ecosystems around the island.
A landmark initiative is the company’s Renewable Energy Programme, which makes its entire manufacturing process 100% energy independent with 24MW of installed capacity. Supported by 2,500 farming families, Tokyo Cement has helped plant over 10 million Gliricidia trees, strengthening rural livelihoods.
The company also leads several community initiatives, including the Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centers, free vocational training programmes, and the Fountain of Life clean water project benefiting over 4,400 people. Its Nourishing the Future meal programme provided 212,500 meals to schoolchildren, boosting attendance and academic performance.
