IIHS Graduation Ceremony 2025: A Landmark Celebration of Excellence and Global Impact

View(s):

The International Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS) celebrated a defining moment in its 23-year legacy on 25th November 2025, when hundreds of graduates walked the stage at the IIHS Graduation Ceremony 2025. What began in 2002 with just 23 students on the second floor of a grocery store has now evolved into one of South Asia’s most respected healthcare education institutions — a global hub that nurtures skilled, compassionate, and future-ready professionals.

From Sri Lanka to the UK, Australia, Finland, Canada, the Middle East, and beyond, IIHS alumni are now shaping health systems around the world. This year’s graduation ceremony was not only a celebration of academic achievement but a testament to IIHS’s mission of transforming lives through education, innovation, and global collaboration.

A Ceremony Rooted in Reflection, Resilience, and Hope

Chancellor, Chairman and Co-Founder Prof. Nihal De Silva opened the ceremony with a message that blended wisdom with personal reflection. Drawing on his own graduation experience in Japan, he reminded the new graduates that great achievement is always rooted in perseverance.

“Anything easily earned is rarely valuable, and anything truly valuable is never easily earned,” he shared, encouraging the class of 2025 to step forward with humility and courage.

His speech also underscored Sri Lanka’s untapped intellectual potential, praising IIHS’s journey from humble beginnings to becoming a recognised institution producing globally employable professionals, including over 4,000 BSc graduates honoured recently by the Ministry of Health.

Leadership Inspires a New Generation of Healthcare Professionals

Vice Chancellor Dr. Renuka Jayatissa highlighted the profound responsibility that graduates now carry as they step into roles in nursing, physiotherapy, and biomedical sciences.

“Behind every patient, every test result, and every decision lies a human story,” she said, urging graduates to lead with empathy and integrity.

CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe emphasised the importance of emotionally intelligent leadership in an era defined by pandemics, climate challenges, and rapid technological transformation. He called on the graduands to be “the steady hand that guides health systems through uncertainty.”

A Celebration Strengthened by Global Partnerships

The ceremony on 25th November 2025 also highlighted IIHS’s extensive global collaborations with world-renowned universities. Congratulatory messages flowed in from:

•  University of Surrey, UK

•  Coventry University, UK

•  Deakin University, Australia

•  Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland

•  Asia e University, Malaysia

These universities reaffirmed IIHS’s reputation as a trusted international partner — a bridge between Sri Lankan talent and global healthcare systems.

Graduate Stories: Strength, Sacrifice, and Transformation

Throughout the ceremony, the voices of graduates echoed themes of perseverance and gratitude.

From those balancing full-time work and studies, to award-winning biomedical science students, and nursing and physiotherapy graduates preparing for global careers — their stories stand as proof of the supportive, learner-friendly environment IIHS has built.

One graduate summarised the spirit of the moment beautifully:

“We built ourselves through early mornings, late nights, and quiet determination. Today is proof that we kept going when no one saw the struggle.”

A New Chapter for Global Healthcare Leaders

As the sun set on 25th November 2025, graduates left with more than certificates — they carried with them years of dedication, the guidance of mentors, and the values of a compassionate profession.

With IIHS’s expanding global footprint, cutting-edge learning systems, and vision for healthcare excellence, the class of 2025 steps into the world ready to heal, lead, innovate, and transform.

And as Chancellor Dr. Nihal De Silva reminded them:

“The youngest Nobel Prize winner was only seventeen.”

The possibilities ahead are limitless.
