Vavuniya University, ACIDM sign MoU
View(s):The Department of Marketing Management, Faculty of Business, University of Vavuniya signed an MoU with the Asia Chartered Institute of Digital Marketing (ACIDM) on November 12 at the university premises.
“By signing with a professional organisation like this we can expand the cooperation activities with the institute and expand community outreach,” Prof Yogarajah Nanthagopen, Dean of the university’s Business Faculty, said.
The university’s vice chancellor, dean of Business Studies, head of the Department of Marketing Management, acting registrar, bursar, acting librarian, deans of the other faculties, heads of other departments, assistant registrar, academic staff of the Department of Marketing, and students attended the event.
Chairperson and members of the ACIDM council, the digital marketing strategist, director of academic affairs and student compliance, senior student counsellor and student recruitment executive attended.
Prof Nanthagopen said the MoU benefits both universities, the community and other stakeholders through collaborative initiatives, hands on experience and shared growth.
He added that high performing students in terms of GPA would get a gold medal that would be sponsored by the ACIDM.
The MoU would enhance the digital marketing capacities of the Vavuniya undergraduate marketing students through practical sessions and training programmes held physically and virtually.
The physical training session would take place within the Vavuniya University computer labs where ACIDM members will come to conduct lectures. The virtual training programme would take place online where students would listen from the university’s computer labs with ACIDM members providing an online class from ACIDM premises.
ACIDM has already purchased the digital marketing training apps to teach the university students. ACIDM has also agreed to provide training programmes on digital tools and digital techniques.
Prof Nanthagopen said that academic staff will also get training.
The MoU enables the Vavuniya marketing students to take the ACIDM diploma programme free of charge.
The two institutes also agreed to conduct joint conferences where students can publish their research.
Prof Nanthgopen also explained that coordinators from both sides conduct monthly meetings where they plan the initiatives.
