Deakin University Degree pathway in Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Education has become one of the most in demand career options globally, and PCHE offers a strong foundation for students interested in shaping young minds. The programme introduces students to play-based learning, inclusive classroom practices, child psychology, early development, and teaching methodologies. What sets PCHE apart is that we promote practical experience and hands-on experiences from the start to prepare our students for a successful future.

At PCHE, students have the opportunity to complete their first year locally in Sri Lanka, gaining essential academic knowledge and practical skills in a supportive environment. These placements give students confidence and practical experience, ensuring a smooth transition to Australia.

At Prospects College of Higher Education, we include mock classroom sessions and ECE workshops to our academic curriculum throughout the year. Many PCHE graduates express appreciation for the foundation they received from PCHE. One such student is Tashya Weerackody a past pupil of Ladies’ college colombo. She is a transfer student who completed her first year at PCHE before moving to Deakin University Australia. During her recent visit to Sri Lanka, she shared her heartfelt thoughts.

“During my holiday to Sri Lanka in June 2025, I felt really happy to visit Prospects College of Higher Education again. This is where I started my journey in Early Childhood Education by studying for my diploma, and now I’m continuing that path at Deakin University in Melbourne, doing my Bachelor’s degree. Coming back to PCHE felt very special because it reminded me of where everything began. I’m truly thankful for the time I spent there and everything I learned. One of the significant moments of my visit was getting to see Miss Yasaara and Sir Somesh again. They have always been so kind and supportive, and I’m very grateful for the role they played in my education. Seeing them again reminded me how much their guidance helped me reach where I am today. I’m proud to say PCHE was the first step of my journey, and I’ll always remember it” — Tashya Weerackody
