Stalled school constructions to be resumed
View(s):The cabinet has approved the recommencement and completion of stalled constructions started under the “Nearest school is the best school” project on a priority basis. The project was implemented to develop school infrastructure during 2016-2020.
At the beginning of 2025, of the sub projects initiated under the project, 29 projects were under the Ministry of Education, and there were projects pending under the provincial departments of education. Schools face many problems due to the stalled projects.
The cabinet approved the proposal presented by Prime Minister/Minister of Education Harini Amarasuriya to recommence the remaining constructions on priority basis in 2025, 2026 and 2027. (KW)
