Top schools hockey players picked

Four players from Nalanda, three each from Royal and Christ Church Matale, two from Ananda and one each from St. Thomas' Matale, Vijaya Matale, St. Benedict's Kotahena, Bandaranayake MV Gampaha, Maris Stella Negombo and Trinity Kandy have been included in the Sri Lanka Schools boys hockey team to take part in the 54th Men and Women's Hockey Nationals to be held in Matale in January 2011.
Trials to select the players for both teams, based on their past performances at the schools hockey nationals and other inter-school hockey tournaments played during the year took place at the Nandimitra Ekanayake Astro Turf in Matale.

The Sri Lanka Schools Boys team - Akalanka Ishan, N. Chintaka, W.N. Nethmal, L.M. Weerakkody (Nalanda Colombo), H. Kuthubdeen, T. Mohottiarachchi and Malitha Abeysundara (from Royal Colombo), R.D. Kulathunga, T.K. Hendeniya and J.K. Dullewa (from Christ Church Matale), Tanuka Tennakoon and Chamikara Nilaweera (from Ananda Colombo), B.P. Parahitiyawa (St. Thomas' Matale), S.M. Sudasinghe (Bandaranayake MV Gampaha),Shehan Weerasinghe (Maris Stella Negombo), D. Tenne (Vijaya Matale), J. Surendran (St. Benedict's Kotahena), S. Sudarshan (Trinity College Kandy). Coach: Indrawansa Herath, Manager: Indika Jayawardena.

The Sri Lanka Schools Girls team for the 20th Women's Senior Hockey Nationals 2110 includes three players each from Pushpadana Kandy and Sri Sangamitta Girls Matale, two from St. Anthony's Convent Katugastota, Visakha Bambalapitiya, Musaeus Colombo 8 and Yasodara Colombo and one each from Janadhipathi Nawala, Seetha Devi Kandy, Viharamhadevi Badulla and Christ Church Matale.

The Sri Lanka Schools Girls team: Ishara Sandamali, Lakmini Wijesundra and Chaturika Ekanayake (from Pushpadana Girls Kandy), Chaturika Premasiri, L. Mahanama and Shani Fernando (from Sri Sangamitta Girls Matale), Maduwanthi Kulasekera, Keshani Herath (from St. Anthony's Convent Kandy), Manisha Welaratne and Mayandi Udugama (from Visakha Bmbalapitiya), Gayathri Mayadunne and B. Ratnayake (from Musaeus Colombo), Chiranthi Perera and Sandumini Jayasinghe (from Yasodara Balika Colombo), Madumani Tllekeratne (from Seetha Devi Kandy), Imesha Lakshani (Janadhipathi Balika Nawala), Dilhani Karunanayake (Christ Church Matale) and Takshila Madumali (Viharamaha Devi Girls Badulla).
