Asian in thrilling win over Stafford

Asian International staged a sterling performance to down Stafford International in their annual 35 over cricket encounter at the NCC Grounds. Stafford International took first lease of the wickets and used by the allotted overs to tot up 169 for 9. This included a captain’s knock of 75 not out by Adrian Dias Abeygunawardene.

Even this knock could not prevent Asian International from winning the game. Asian International’s winning total of 173 for 9 came with an over to spare. In chasing runs Asian International had notable ups and downs. From being 110 for 1 they were reduced to 140 for 9, but a plucky last pair got them past the post.

In the bowling department the outstanding performance was by Budhil De Silva of Stafford International who took 6 Asian International wickets for 25 runs. Stafford International – 169 for 9 in 35 overs (Adrian Dias Abeygunawardena 75 n.o; Budhil De Silva 6 for 25
