The Hayleys Group has plans to renovate some of its plantation bungalows to upmarket boutique hotels, officials said.
To start off this process Hayleys plans to refurbish its Nuwara Eliya estate bungalow. “This is a circuit bungalow and we plan to upgrade it and maybe brand it with our Amaya Hotels chain,” an official told the Business Times. He said this bungalow was used as a circuit retreat.

He added that the costing for this is still at an initial stage. “We plan to complete it by next year-end,” he said. He added that this effort will be similar to what Dilmah Tea has done with their colonial bungalows built for British tea estate managers which have been restored.

The official said that Hayleys has already zeroed in on three to four more bungalows to be refurbished as well.
