The touring Stamford High School girls’ hockey team, playing their last fixtures of their tour of Sri Lanka, rallied in the second half of their game against Sirimavo BV to record a four-all draw at the Astro turf recently.

In the first session of play, Sirimavo BV had the game virtually in their pockets with a 3-1 lead.

In the 7th minute of the game, left half Kavya Sooriyaarachchi worked the ball past the Stamford defenders for centre half to put Sirimavo BV one up..

Seven minutes later, Sooriyaarachchi struck again, going solo to make it 2-0.

However, in the 10th minute, Stamford High School reduced the lead when right inside Hanna Yogasunderam passed to left extreme Immy Bromwich to give their side the first goal of the first session.

But in the 18th minute, centre forward Anjalika Dissanayake increased the Sirimavo BV lead to 3-1 and five minutes later she performed the same exercise with her second goal to make it 4-1 at half time.

After the breather, the game was all Stamford’s as they piled up goals while Sirmavo BV were completely outplayed.

In the 25th minute, Phoebe Moth playing in the centre forward position took a pass from right inside Hanna Yogasunderam to give Stamford their second goal. Eight minutes later Hannah Yohasunderam, the right inside, goaled the third goal when she scored off a pass from Rosie Mark the right extreme.

The final goal of the game and equalizer for Stamford was off the stick of striker Immy Huxley who was in position to sound the boards off a pass from centre forward Phoebe Moth.
Rachel Dinwoodie of Stamford was adjudged the best player of the game.
The tour was sponsored and organised by the Sports Arm of Butterfly Vacations, Sri Lanka (Kreeda Holidays) who were also the tour operators, hotel accommodators and transport operators.

Stamford BV 3 (2) (Rosie Mark 23rd, Immy Huxley 28th and Hanna Yogasunderam 38th beat Visakha Vidyalaya 0.
Amelia Rome of Stafford High School won the award for the best player of the game.
Musaeus College 1 (Kishari Wijeratne 1) beat Stamford High School 0. (BM)
