DMS Electronics (DMSE), the local partner for Plantronicsequipment, donated computer headsets to the e-Village initiative at the recently concluded e-Village forum. The programme was initiated by the Ministry of Education and Intel Sri Lanka in 2007 and has since been launched in 50 schools across nine provinces.

An e-Village covers a small and specific geographical area, providing ways to use ICT to serve the community. A range of ICT programs for student, youth and residents that improve education, livelihood development and access to job opportunities are made available via the e-villages.

“The e-Village project has done a tremendous job in the last six years and we wanted to contribute towards this,” said Lal Chandranath – Managing Director of DMSE, in a media statement issued by the company.

“Since the primary task of an e-Village is providing basic IT know-how to the local communities, quality communication equipment was a necessity. I want to thank the Ministry of Education and Intel Sri Lanka for this opportunity.” DMSE has over a decade long partnership with Plantronics – the global leader in audio solutions, providing cutting-edge headset solutions for call centres, enterprises and unified communications. All major call centres in Sri Lanka use Plantronics headsets and most leading enterprises too use Plantronics to improve efficiency and to enhance their communication solutions. Furthermore Plantronics has a wide product portfolio to meet the growing demand for unified communications and mobility solutions. “This is a great opportunity for us to contribute towards a worthy cause. Using headsets will, naturally, make the use of computers an even better experience specially for applications such as E-learning, video conferencing Skype etc for these school children and community members and we are glad to partner with DMSE in this initiative,” said Bobby Joseph, Country Director-India and Middle East of Plantronics.
