A trace of arsenic has been found in the kohila curry prepared for MPs on Friday, according to initial tests.
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa revealed this yesterday in response to a query raised by UNP Parliamentarian Ravi Karunanayaka regarding the police investigation that was launched after an unusual colour was detected in the kohila curry prepared in the kitchen of the Parliament complex.

“I was told that there were traces of arsenic and cyanide in the curry,” Mr. Karunanayaka said.
Police detectives found the kohila curry was unusually red and this triggered a rumour about possible food poisoning.

A sample of the curry was sent to the Government Analyst, Parliament sources said.Police recorded statements from several employees of the canteen and kitchen.
