Musaeus athletes set up three new meet records

The Under-13 team of Musaeus College Colombo set three new meet records to win the age group championship at the Relay Carnival Athletic Meet 2012, held at Diyagama last week.

The Under-13 sprinting team of Musaeus, which included Sendaru Perera, Nethu Galappaththi, Dewmi Jayathilake and Nethmi Devaraja won all their races namely the 4x50m, 4x100m and 4x200m relay sprints in record times. In the 4x50m relay they clocked 28.50 seconds to establish a new meet record while winning the race and continued their good form by winning both the 4x100m and 4x200m events. In the 4x100m event they clocked 54.28 seconds and in the 4x200m event they timed 1 minute 59.63 seconds to set up meet records.

In addition the Musaeus Under-16 relay team represented by Salmi Ranpatabendi, Rashmi Ranasinghe, Irushi Ediriweera and Eranga Jayasinghe, was placed third. The Schools Relay Carnival was held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Diyagama Homagama on September 14, 15 and 16. – NA
