The Galle Children’s Festival will take place this year, from October 11 to 14, 2012. During the four days there will be many workshops and fun events for kids.

The Festival kicks off with the opening parade at the Galle Fort. Anyone can come along and join in this parade. Limited tickets will be available for the opening ceremony and the traditional puppet performance by the Ambalangoda Puppet Group.

The workshops on Thursday October 11 and Friday 12, which are school days, are arranged for children from the Southern Province through their schools.On Saturday October 13 and Sunday October 14, the workshops are open to all and are all free of charge. Saturday’s workshops will be on creative writing, music, arts and crafts.

On Sunday there will be field trips to Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Art Museum, the Rain Forest, ship tour and boat ride by the Sri Lanka Navy and a fun bicycle ride around the Galle Fort for children under 15. For the more adventurous cyclists, there will be 27 km ride around the suburbs of Galle.

Free tickets are available from the box office from September 22 to October 7 at:
