Dharmaraja scored a thumping innings and 47 runs win over Vidyartha in their match at Lake View yesterday.

Spinners Lakshan de Silva (match bag of 7 for 54) and fellow left armer Aravinda Vithanachchi (5 for 36) took over to bowl out Vidyartha twice. Off spinner Pasun Navaratne with the ball, Avishka Ranaweera and Ravindu Dissanaike with the bat made some impression for Vidyartha.

The Rajans win came seven minutes after tea.

Good double by Antonian skipper Bulathsinhala

A magnificent all round performance by Antonian skipper Sachin Bulathsinhala was the highlight of their game against Wesley at Katugastota. The Antonians obtained their second first innings win in three games.

Bulathsinhala held the Antonian batting together with a gritty 56. Then he bowled his off spinners with great accuracy to bag 6 for 37 inclusive of a hat-trick. Ebert and Pulikuttiarachchi made significant contributions. Wesley’s captain Sachin Jayawardena failed with the ball. However he top scored with an unbeaten 41. The Antonians offered the visitors a target of 200 in 26 overs to infuse interest.

Match fizzles out to a draw at Mt Lavinia

The Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter between S. Thomas’ and Thurstan concluded at Mt Lavinia fizzled out to a draw yesterday.

The Thomians resuming from their overnight score of 22 for no loss batted for two sessions of the second day to make a score of 245 Ramith Gunaratne making a top score of 55. This was in reply to the formidable score of 308 for 8 declared made by Thurstan on the opening day which came on the back of unbeaten knocks by Ramindu Lakshan who made a 114 with 16 boundaries and Theekshana Hewawitharana chipping in with a 50.

Mateesha stars in drawn game

An unbeaten knock of 124 by Mateesha Ranaweera was the highlight of the drawn inter-school match between Zahira and Isipathana concluded at Maradana yesterday.

Isipathana after bowling out Zahira for a low score of 149 resuming on their overnight score of 97 for 4 went on to make a score of 275. Mateesha was associated in a 99 runs stand for the fifth wicket with skipper Deshan Jeyakumar who contributed 50. Zahira batting the second time ended the day making 151 for 7 with Salman Fazil making 92
