The 32nd JCI TOYP 2012 Awards Ceremony was held on the 19th of this month at Waters Edge Hotel with the patronage of Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development as the chief guest. This is undoubtedly the most coveted youth award which recognises the achievements of Ten most outstanding youth of the county, who have excelled in their chosen fields of work and have been passionate about their work and contributed to society and inspired people around them in their own ways.

This year’s theme is “Passion to Excel “, as we believe passion is an inner strength that surpasses all other barriers and has the ability to do the impossible. This depicts and recognises their achievements in their chosen work. This year we have featured some of the past winners who have achieved and excelled in their own areas of work and are now prominent and successful personalities in the country.These winners are contributing back to society while inspiring the people around them. We have received a record number of nominations from all parts of the country for all the categories, said the Project chairman JCI Sen. Ruwan Senanayake

 

The chairman of the Judging panel, Mr Dinesh Weerackody, along with six prominent, well reputed judges which included Ms. Shyamalee Tudawe, Brig. Japana Jayawardane, Professor Hemanthi Ranasinghe Ms. Sangeetha Weeraratne, Mr. Luxmandra Fernnando and Dr. Anil Samaranayake

After a lengthy judging process, the Ten most outstanding persons of Sri Lanka for the year 2012 were chosen. They are as follows:Thushanth Jayasundara for Business, Entrepreneurial Accomplishment, Dr. Faiz Marikar for Academic Leadership, Ashanthi de Alwis for Contribution to Arts, Darshi Keerthisena for Contribution to Culture, Riyaz Deen Shahajahan for Contribution to Media, Sivahar Muthuramalingam for Environmental Leadership, Ganindu Nanayakkara for Technological Development, Dr. Chandika Liyanage for Medical Innovation, Yoshitha Rajapaksa for Personal Accomplishment and Deshal de Mel for Personal Improvement.
