The Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka incorporated by Parliament Act No.23 of 2009 has created a new Fast Track Pathway for students awaiting A/L results to become Professional Management Accountants now referred to as Professional Accountants in Business.

The CMA Foundation Level exam has been converted to a Multiple Choice Questions and Short Answer Questions. All papers will be of 2 hours duration and students could sit for all subjects at once or sit on a subject by subject basis. Results will also be issued on a subject by subject basis.

This will bring the CMA on par with many of the foreign professional programmes.

Students who have sat the GCE A/L this year and awaiting results will now be able to register for the course and follow lectures at any of the recognized educational institutes or study by distance learning by purchasing the study texts from the institute or register for the CMA online e- learning classes.
To assist students the model question papers and answers will be available in hard copy from the Institute or could be downloaded from the CMA web site www.cma-srilanka.org.

Students who register on or before 31st October will be entitled to the eLearning mode of study for the Foundation Level free of Charge
CMA is a very cost effective course and is 1/10th the cost of foreign courses and also saves valuable foreign exchange for the country. All stages could be completed within 21/2 years and in addition the institute will assist students in finding practical training places in leading firms. A degree pathway is also available as students could also get exemptions in the Open University Business Management Degree.

Educational Institutes interested in conducting the CMA programme should contact the Executive Director for further details.

The CMA programme is recognized by professional accounting bodies in UK, Canada, Australia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. The Post Graduate Institute of Management (PIM) recognizes the CMA qualification for those seeking to do a MBA.

Registration of students are now open and details could be obtained by contacting the Institute on 2 506 391/ 2 501 062/ 2 507 087.
