Dyan Seneviratne rejoins IPM as CEO

Dyan Seneviratne who headed the prestigious Institute of Personnel Management Sri Lanka [IPMSL] with distinction between 2008 & 2010 has rejoined the IPM as its CEO w.e.f. 5 September 2012.

During his earlier tenure as CEO, the IPM doubled its profitability and opened up new provincial study centers – expanding to Kandy, Matara as well as set up path for a new centre in Jaffna. As the then CEO he made effective presentations to numerous schools on ‘Key Life Skills’. Also in New Delhi, India Dyan made riveting presentations at regional conference on Effective Skills Development for Employability in February 2010, an event sponsored by two world renowned educational Groups: Pearsons & Edexcel. Being a multi-talented person himself he says: “caring for students and creating conditions to unleash their potential has been my goal and not merely going through the motions of academia”.

Dyan Seneviratne is a renowned tea planter who managed some of the largest plantations in Sri Lanka and established yield and productivity records in all estates he headed during a span of over three decades. Dyan has also made a name for himself as a corporate trainer associated with the whole gamut of effective business communications and leadership traits and has been sought after by numerous multi-national and top corporate entities in the country.

Dyan Seneviratne is a famed writer with a fresh, breezy style seen in monthly columns of both ‘Motor’ [SL’s only magazine on motoring] and LMD’s ‘Living’ – a family & leisure magazine. He often writes to the newspapers / journals too. In fact Dyan’s book for kids on Test Cricketer Angelo Matthews titled: ‘Little Angelo’s Big Day in Cricket’ published in English, Sinhala & Tamil was launched at a colourful ceremony by the USA based NGO: ‘Room-to-Read’ in collaboration with the International Cricket Conference [ICC] at the SLF on Monday13 August 2012. Apart from Angelo Mathews, the event was graced by the ICC CEO, David Richardson.

A product of S. Thomas’ College, Mt Lavinia where Dyan excelled in debating; he was President of the English Literary & Debating Society; represented STC in junior Cricket and Badminton. Public speaking is his forte and was adjudged All Island Best Speaker [English] organized by the Toastmasters International USA in 1996. He held the position of Vice President [Membership] Dubai Toastmasters Club in 1997 and was awarded the Competent Toastmaster Certificate [CTM] also in 1997. He was also awarded the prestigious ‘Toastmaster of the Year – Sri Lanka’ by Colombo Toastmasters Club both in 1996 & 2003. Dyan is a Rotarian and is currently the Director – Public Relations of Rotary Club of Battaramulla.

A proven dynamic leader, he is bound to inspire and motivate his staff to believe in themselves and create conditions towards innovation in an environment of harmony. Dyan has always been an effective communicator and would no doubt give fresh impetus and clarity of purpose to the IPM faculty lecturers and students alike. This ever popular and indefatigable personality was warmly welcomed by the staff of IPM SL on 5th September 2012.
