International Fiscal Association’s seminar on taxation

 

The International Fiscal Association (IFA) is holding a seminar this month on taxation which will deliver first-hand information about amendments to the Inland Revenue Act, Value Added Tax Act and other Acts arising from the 2009 Budget.

Scheduled for July 29, 2009 at the HNB Auditorium, speakers and panelist will analyse and discuss the most recent fiscal amendments and the consequential effects on taxpayers. The keynote address will be delivered by E. M. M. Medagoda, Commissioner General of Inland Revenue Department.

Topics include the collective impact of fiscal laws on business and amendments to the Inland Revenue Act and the Economic Service Charge Act. An IFA press release said there will be a panel discussion R.P.L. Weerasinghe, Senior Advisor - Taxation Policy to the Ministry of Finance, Basheer Ismail, Partner – SJMS Associates and Denzil A. Rodrego, Director – ECI Tax Chambers (Pvt) Ltd. The moderator of the seminar will be N.R. Gajendran, Chairman of the IFA, Sri Lanka Branch.
