Gas shortages were reported in several parts of the country, but the government yesterday said they were confident in resolving the issue in the coming week.

During the past weeks there was a shortage of Litro Gas and Laugfs Gas cylinders, and people were once more forced to remain in queues to obtain the limited stocks available at a few dealers.

Litro Gas said that with the distribution of gas cylinders resuming from Saturday the shortage would be resolved by Monday, restoring normalcy.

Government sources said they have taken steps to increase the Litro Gas supply. Accordingly 3,700 Mt of gas is scheduled to reach the country today. Apart from that, another 3,900 Mt of gas is scheduled to reach the country on February 26, while another 3,700 is scheduled to come on February 28.

Though new Litro Gas cylinders are not currently issued, sources said the company is planning to issue new gas cylinders after March 12.
