Abinawa Niwahal Peramuna office bearers not accepted by Election Commission
View(s):The Election Commission has refused to accept the new office bearers of the ‘Abinawa Niwahal Peramuna’ which is a registered political party.
The Commission has informed the secretary of the party that the new office bearers have been selected without conducting the annual general meeting under the party constitution.
The Commission has sought clarification whether the AGM was duly called by the party Chairman or leader.
The Commission has also not accepted the amendments moved to the party Constitution.
The Commission decision follows a complaint from the party Secretary Oshala Herath against Amith Weerasinghe who claims to be the party President.
The Commission has informed the party secretary to submit the documents keeping with the Parliamentary Act after conducting the AGM keeping with the party Constitution.
