Education reforms on track
View(s):The government is going ahead with education reforms despite teacher union concerns. The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education issued two separate circulars for primary grades as well as junior and senior secondary grades.
According to the proposed education reforms, the curriculum would be adjusted for Grade 1 students, as well as junior secondary sector Grade 6 students from 2026. The Grade 1 time table will be changed accordingly. The new time table will see the school time for Grade 1 students change to be from 7.30 am to 11.45 am.
From 2026 onwards a new syllabus will be implemented for Grade 6. Later, the new syllabus will be implemented for Grade 7 during 2027, Grade 8 would adopt the new syllabus in 2028 while grades 9, 10 and 11 would adopt the new syllabus in 2029.
