YouTuber Sudaththa Thilakasiri has been directed to appear in court on October 28 by Mount Lavinia Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara in relation to a claim of harassment of a woman by linking her name in a programme relating to the death of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

The court also directed that the YouTube channel and the TikTok account run by Mr Thilakasiri stop telecasting/transmitting any material related to the case.

The magistrate’s directive came after considering the submissions made on behalf of the petitioner.

The petition claims that Mr Thilakasiri, who conducts a programme called ‘classic sudaa’, had telecast the defamatory and harmful content regarding her even though she was unaware of any person called Thajudeen or anything regarding his death.

President’s Counsel Maithree Gunaratne, who appeared with Attorney Kusal Senanayake and Migara Gunaratne, told the court that due to the actions of Mr Thilakasiri, the petitioner had faced harassment and anguish, and the court action had been initiated to get justice against the falsehoods spread about her.
