Katina pooja held at Dalada Maligawa, alms offered to monks

Devotees throng to touch the Katina Cheevaraya at the quadrangle of the Dalada Maligawa.

The katina pooja ceremony was held on Saturday at the Dalada Maligawa. Alms were offered to 86 monks from both the Malwathu and Asgiri Chapters.
The sermon on the merits of offering the katina cheevaraya to the maha sangha was conducted by the Anunayake of the Asgiri Chapter Ven Narampanawa Ananda Thera. The offering of the katina cheevaraya was accepted by the Mahanayake of Asgiri Chapter Ven Panditha Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera.
Anunayake Rajakeeya Panditha Niyangoda Vijithasiri Thera and Ven Thibbatuwawe Medhankara Nayaka Thero of the Inner Shrine Room were present.
The offering of the katina cheevaraya was organised by Acting Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela who was also present.
