Burning of Ranil’s house: Case referred to AG
View(s):Fort Magistrate Pavithra Pathirana granted permission this week to the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) to seek advice from the Attorney General’s Department regarding further action on the suspects involved in burning down the private residence of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe during the aragalaya protests.
The suspects taken into custody over the incident which occurred on July 9, 2022, are currently on bail.
The magistrate also issued a warrant on two suspects who did not appear in court. The case is due to be taken up on January 14, 2026.
