The Central Bus Stand in Pettah is to be renovated and developed at an estimated cost of Rs 425 million, the Cabinet has decided.

The funds are to be allocated under the Clean Sri Lanka programme and will be utilised to repair and maintain access roads, bus yards, passenger stands, restrooms for drivers and conductors, administrative buildings, sanitation systems, and drainage systems.

This follows Cabinet approval for a proposal presented by Transport Minister Bimal Rathnayake this week.

The project will be completed with the
Sri Lanka Air Force contributing direct labour. The Colombo Municipal Council, the Ceylon Electricity Board, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, the Road Development Authority, the Urban Development Authority, and other institutions will provide support and cooperation.
