Premier Inter-Club T20 gets underway from May 27

The much looked-forward to domestic cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket will start off with Premier Inter-Club T20 tournament scheduled to be worked of May 27 in venues around the metropolis.

The tournament will see 22 teams in action divided into four groups. Defending champions Army SC are in Group ‘A’ along with Panadura SC, Air Force SC, Police SC, NCC and Chilaw Marians. Runners-up Colts are in Group ‘B’ along with Ragama CC, Sebastianites, Nugegoda S&WC and Bloomfield while Ace Capital, SSC, Tamil Union, Badureliya SC and Kurunegala YCC are in Group ‘C’. The six teams in Group ‘D’ are BRC, Moors, Galle CC, CCC, Kandy Customs and Negombo CC.

The tournament is slotted to end on June 11 after and will follow the Premier League 3-day tournament scheduled to start from June 16. The tournament will be come to a halt temporarily due to the Lanka Premier and will continue after September 10.

Meanwhile SLC has finalised arrangements to hold the Schools Cricket Awards to felicitate talented school cricketers who are the future aspirants to the national team which is going to be held for the first time. The domestic tournament calendar will come to an end with the Premier limited over tournament scheduled for October.
