Hosts Eagles Golf Links won the Eagles Quadrangle Golf 2023, an event featuring four of Sri Lanka’s teams representing golf courses, at China Bay in Tricomalee yesterday.

Ravi Liyanage of Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) recorded the best overall scores in Gents, while in Ladies, it was recorded by Pravina Dunuwila of Victoria Golf Resort. Michael Sathasivam of Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC) recorded the longest drive among men, while RCGC’s Dinuka Boralessa achieved the longest drive among ladies.

Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana of Eagles Golf Links recorded the nearest to the pin among gents, while its ladies’ segment was won by Fran de Mel of NEGC.

Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC), Nuwara Eliya Golf Club (NEGC), Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) and hosts Eagles Golf Links and Courses participated in this event with each team comprising of 15 players with two ladies being compulsory. The best 12 cards were selected for each team.

A notable highlight of this year’s tournament was the introduction of a brand-new ‘Island Green’, a first-ever feature in Sri Lankan golfing history. This addition is poised to heighten the allure for golfers, adding a unique element of challenge to the game. Sri Lanka Air Force organises three main golfing events in each year — Commanders Cup, Quadrangle Cup and Monsoon Cup. The event was sponsored by SLT Mobitel and Peoples Bank.
