Vidyartha College grabbed major honours against their traditional rivals, St. Sylvester’s College in their 63rd Battle of the Babes big match encounter which concluded in a draw at Pallekelle yesterday.

St. Sylvester’s batting first were shot out for 94 runs, and in their second innings batted well to end on 149 for 3 at stumps with the help of a fine knock of 63 by Khanka Wickremasinghe and a well composed 49 by skipper Malith Lakshan to force a draw.

Vidyartha made 199 runs in their first innings as they lost wickets at regular intervals going for quick runs. Shyamal Priyabhashana (63), Bashitha Nandatissa (44) and Danupa Kodikara (36) were among the runs for Vidyartha who took a lead of 105 runs in the first innings. After yesterday’s drawn encounter the series is still led by St. Sylvester’s who has 15 wins against Vidyartha’s three while the remaining 45 being draws.
