All-rounder Saliya Jayasundara will lead the Old Rajans cricket team at the 21st Col. Henry Steel Olcott Memorial Trophy cricket tournament, which will be played at Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara from November 18 to 20.

Jayasundara’s team will have a lineup yesteryear schoolboy star cricketers who represented Dharmaraja College, Kandy with pride and distinction. Among the known cricketers in the team for this year’s Olcott Cricket Tournament are Senaka Dissanakayake, who represented Sri Lanka Under-19s against Australia in 1984, Asanka Marapana, another Sri Lanka youth cricketer, Muditha Wijekoon, Ruckshan Sooriyaarachchi and Upesh Wijesiri.

The team will also comprise Chinthaka Nishantha, Bimal Sooriyampola, Amal Silva, Dinusha Bandara, Kavinda Dedunupitiya, Asanka Dissanayake, Senaka Pieris, Prasanna Walalawela,  Manjula Liyanage and Athula Weeraratne, while Ajith Palihakkara will act as the team manager.

The Col. Henry Steel Olcott Memorial Cricket Tournament, inaugurated in 1999, involves eight premier Buddhist schools of Sri Lanka namely, namely Ananda, Nalanda, Dharmaraja, Mahinda, Maliyadeva, Rahula, Dharmasoka and Dharmapala colleges competing in different sports, mainly cricket, represented by teams of old boys and present boys.

This year Rahula, Matara takes its turn as the organiser of the annual sporting event, coinciding with the centenary year celebration of the school from down south.
