Spinner Janith shines in drawn game at Colts
Lumbini MV left arm spinner Janith Dias shone with a match bag of 13 for 58 in their drawn Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter against S. de S. Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwala which concluded at the Colts ground yesterday.
Janith who ended with impressive figures of 6 for 21 in the first inning followed it with another fine bowling performance of 7 for 37.
The second day’s play which got off to a late start at 11.30 a.m. saw Lumbini MV resuming on their overnight score of 15 for 1 recovered from a bad position of 122 for 8 to end with a score of 151 in reply to S. de S. Jayasinghe MMV’s score of 174.
Thanuka Dabare made a top knock of 52 for Lumbini MV and was supported by an unbeaten 31 by Rangitha Nalawangsa while right arm spinner Ishara Kuruwita did the early damage with a five wicket haul.

The Under 19 inter-school match between St. Thomas Matara and Devapathiraja MMV Rathgama played at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara ended in a tame draw. Devapathiraja MMV taking first lease of the wicket made a modest score of 237 and then restricted their opponents to a score of 152.
A four wicket haul by Jagath Sandaruwan and half tons by Kasun Weeranga and Prabath Buddika helped Anuradhapura Central take a massive first inning lead over Shastrananda MV Dehiwala in their Under 19 match which began at Anuradhapura yesterday. The match will be continued today.
