National water-polo squad selected for Asian Games 2014
View(s):A National Water-polo squad was formed last month targeting the 2014 Asian Games to be held in September 2014 in Korea. The squad consists of open men’s team, Open women’s team, Under 17 Boys team, Under 17 Girls team. These 4 squads were selected after a rigorous 2 week selection process in July 2013.
The open teams will be offered the opportunity to compete in a number of international competitions prior to the Asian games scheduled for 2014 in Korea. This opportunity will be offered to the younger development squads too which will consist of second string players for the National Team.
The junior teams will be targeting to qualify for the FINA world youth water polo championship scheduled to be held in 2014.
The National water polo squads are being coached by Mr. Malaka Chandradasa and is assisted by A. Silva and Awnee Razack.
