Royal win U-19 WP hockey title
View(s):A solitary goal by Malitha Gamage in the 13th minute of the game enabled Royal College to defeat Ananda College 1-0 and claim the Boys’ Under 19 inter schools hockey championship, conducted by the Western Province Education Departments, at the Campbell Park recently.
In the second session of the game neither side was able to penetrate the other’s defense.
The game was controlled by B.L.V.S. Perera and Damith Jayasena, while N. Tennekoon was the third official. Nalanda take third place over Asoka Vidyalaya
Nalanda Vidyalaya defeated Asoka Vidyalaya 5-0 to emerge second-runner up in the Boys’ Under 19 WP hockey tournament, which was held at Campbell Park recently.
Right extreme, V. Chathuranga slotted in one goal from the victors, while the remaining four came from right inside Jeewantha Edirisinghe and left-inside Pathum Praboda who each hammered in two goal apiece. (B.M.)
