St. Joseph’s regain Rev. Fr. Peter A. Pillai trophy

St. Joseph’s regained the Rev. Fr. Peter A. Pillai Memorial Challenge Shield after two years with an easy 73 runs win over St. Peter’s in the 37th annual limited over encounter at the P. Sara Stadium yesterday.

St. Joseph’s skipper Rosco Thattil winning the toss and electing to bat, made a modest score of 230 for 9 in their allotted 50 over. They were helped by half tons from Chathuranga Kumara and skipper Rosco with the pair putting on 89 runs for the fifth wicket.

St. Peter’s in their run chase were well behind the target and over that lost wickets at regular intervals which saw them being able to muster a score of only 157. The Josephians bagged three of the four individual awards that were on offer with Chathuranga Kumara (batsman), Dinal Dhambarage (bowler) and Rosco Thattil (man of the match) while Peterite Lahiru Milantha took the best fielder’s prize.
