SSC Badminton final today

The final events of the SSC Badminton Open Championships will be worked off today at the club Courts from 8 a.m. onwards. Being a ranking tournament, the open finals will commence at 2 p.m. which will be followed by the awards presentation from 6 p.m. onwards. Besides the trophies and certificates, this tournament carries cash awards totaling to a sum of Rs. 415,000/- which will be distributed among the winners and runners up.

The event is sponsored by Etisalat, HNB and Fonterra. In some of the semi-final events that were worked off yesterday Maheshi Fonseka qualified to meet Thilini Promodika in the Girl’s under 15 final while Mansala Ranawana will meet Aveesha Kisholi Dias in the under 19 final. The two matches will be played at 10 am. and 12 noon respectively.

In the girl’s under 15 doubles Maheshi Fonseka and Thilini Promodika will meet Yasmitha Wedamulla and Lihini Wijesinghe at 10 am. In the women’s doubles final Achini N. Ratnasiri and Upuli Samanthika will meet Chandrika de Silva and Oshadie Kuruppu at 4 p.m.

The programme reads as: 8 am to 11am: Boys U11 singles, Girls U 11 singles, U 13 Boys Singles, Girls U 13 singles, Boys U 15 singles and Girls U 15 singles. (All Finals).

10 am to 12 noon: Girls and Boys U 13 Doubles, Girls and Boys U 15 Doubles. Boys U 17 singles, Girls U 17 singles.

12 noon to 2 p.m. Boys U 19 Singles, Girls Under 19 singles, Girls U 17 Doubles Boys U 17 Doubles.
