Lankan batsmen pile on

The Lankan top order continued with their scoring spree at the end of the third day against the hapless Zimbabwe Select XI by going in at 567 for 4 at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.

In spite of the intermittent rain that hampered, the Lankans went on to make this imposing total after continuing from their overnight total of 450 for 3.

Chamara Kapugedera who was unbeaten on 117 at the end of the day retired after his 150th run while his overnight partner Kandamby who was yet to score made 55 not out in the rain marred day where only 38 overs of play was possible.

Kapugedera’s knock contained fourteen fours and two towering sixes.

There was a poor weather warning also for Saturday, which is the final day. Peter Utseya was the most successful bowler for Zimbabwe – returning figures of 3 for 133 in 39 overs of bowling
