Vidyartha win at chess
 

Ananda became the runners-up in the under 12 All Island inter school A Division chess Championship. This tournament was organised by the Sri Lanka schools Chess association from November 7th to 9th..
This tournament was held at Nalanda College. Twenty teams took part in the under 12 section. Vidyartha beat Ananda by 24 points to 23 in the final.

Ananda’s 23 points came from Maliyadeva Kurunegala 3.5-2.5, D.S. Senanayake 6/0, Nalanda – 3.5/2.5, Rahula Matara 3.5-2.5, Vidyartha Kandy 3.5-2.5, and drew against Richmond 3/3

Although they had proud record of being the only unbeaten team in the 6 round tournament in this age group category had been unfortunate not to have won the championship Ramith Hettiarachchi won a “Board” Prize as well

The team Comprises Pasidu Herath captain, Dinuk Liyanage, Kaveesha Jayawardana, Thilina Dilshan, Yoshitha Atukorale, Ramith Hettiarachchi and Senith Sooriarachchi. The team is coached by Romesh Wijeyawardana while the master in charge is H.A.Herath.
