University Degree Courses for National Sports personnel: UGC
View(s):The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced it has opened doors for those with exceptional abilities and skills in Sports to enter the university system under a special intake.
The UGC will accept applications from candidates who have excelled in Sports, to follow a course of study in Sports Science & Management, conducted by the University of Sabaragamuwa (UoS) and the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, as well as follow a course of study in Physical Education conducted by the UoS.
Those who have won medals or participated in the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games or SAARC Games, or in a recognized World Cup in Cricket, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, Netball or, any other Sport as decided by the UGC, are eligible to apply for this special admission.
The candidates selected for admission under this special category are required to attend a suitable Foundation course organized by the Open University of Sri Lanka, before commencing the relevant academic programme. Closing date for applications is August 15, 2018.
