Tabs, Laptops distribution will start from WP: Ed.Min.
View(s):The proposed pilot project to distribute free Tabs and Laptops will commence from the Western Province, said Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam.
“The pilot project will be continued for a 6-month period, when it will be assessed, and implemented as a low cost project, while improving 8 features recommended by a Presidential Committee,” the Minister said, adding that, “A service provider who could ensure security will be selected for the project, once the project is further expanded through islandwide distributors.” Ministry of Education (MoE) officials said the project was launched after a study of a similar project in Australia, where a Tab and a mobile phone was allowed, with provisions to work online and offline.
“We should improve the facility in three years, so that, we have smart classrooms to provide better Education,” an MoE official said.
