Susan George Pulimood Memorial Oration on July 23
View(s):The annual Susan George Pulimood Memorial Oration organised by the Old Girls Association of Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, will be held on July 23, at the Jeremias Dias Hall, at the school.
The event coincides with the commemoration of the birthday of Mrs Pulimood who was Visakha Vidyalaya Principal for 22 years.
The year’s oration will be delivered by Prof Niranjanie Ratnayake, Chartered Engineer- FIESL., Member IEPSL, Emeritus Professor- Department of Civil Engineering, University of Moratuwa, President- Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka and President Elect- Institute of Environmental Professionals, Sri Lanka. The topic for this year’s oration ‘Breaking Barriers and Changing the World – Women in Engineering’
The Pulimood Trust also awards annual scholarships to students achieving academic excellence at the GCE A/L exam in the Science (Bio & Physical), Arts and Commerce streams.
The Trust is sustained by contributions made by old girls of Visakha, which has made it possible to conduct this event uninterrupted, for the past 28 years.
