The institute of Hospitality (IoH) – the largest professional body for individual managers and aspiring managers working and studying in the hospitality and tourism industry in Sri Lanka, had its 26th Annual General Meeting recently at the Ramada Colombo

Thusith Samaraweera re-elected as the Chairman of IoH Sri Lanka International Branch for 2018/19 term of office at the AGM and Harsha Jayasinghe (Vice Chairman), Renuka Jayamanne (Vice Chairman), Eraj Abeywardhane (Treasurer) and Sugath Rajapakse (Secretary) were unanimously elected to continue to hold positions for 2018/19 as well.

The Institute of Hospitality exists to benefit its members in their career and professional development as well as continuing to improve the highest industry standards. In the past year the Institute of Hospitality Sri Lanka International Branch conducted training programmes for Executives, Managers and Supervisors covering several districts in Sri Lanka. In the coming months, a Certificate Level course will be conducted mainly on Food and Services, for Military personnel who are based in Anuradhapura Army Camp.

Speaking at the occasion Mr. Samaraweera mentioned of three points which need be adopted in the hospitality industry to ensure the provision of highest quality of service to guests. The first and most important task is to protect the integrity of the industry, increasing quality management being the second and lastly, paying a great deal of attention to both foreign and local visitors for obvious reasons.
