An urgent need, a programme to make children under-16 with diabetes and their parents aware on how to control this disease will be held on December 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Viharamaha Devi Park, Colombo.

Organised by the Endocrinology and Diabetes Unit of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children and the Sri Lanka College of Paediatricians, the programme is being held in connection with World Diabetes Day.

These children and parents will be made aware of the essential life-skills to gain optimum control of the disease, while there will also be a session on coping strategies and practical demonstrations on diet — what they should eat, how much and at what time.

Entrance is free and any child with diabetes can participate along with their parents after registering at phone: 011-2693711ext 267
