Opening batsman, Madura Jayasena carried his bat out with a fighting unbeaten century (107 not out in 87 balls inclusive of five sixes and twelve fours) for debutants, Asiri Hospitals, but his effort did not bear fruit, as fellow debutants, Butani Capital gained a 54-runs win over them, in the ongoing 4th Stafford Motor Co., “Honda” Trophy, MCA Division ‘G’ 25-over League Tournament continued last weekend.

Wanigarachchi (96 in 50 balls, inclusive of 7 sixes and 10 fours), who put on 150 runs for the third wicket in just 80 balls.

The other centurion was DSI’s Madushan Yapa, who scored a whirlwind 123 not out in 56 balls, inclusive of 8 sixes and 15 fours against Copalamba. Yapa’s fine effort was spoilt by rain, as the match ended in a no-decision.

A Baur and Co. was sent on a leather hunt by Nippon Paint, as they piled up 280 for 4 in 25 overs, Nuwan Prasad hitting a 50-ball 90 with 10 sixes and 3 fours and Brian Jansz remaining not out on 99 in 36 balls with 10 sixes and 7 fours. Nippon Paint won the match by 150 runs. Weekend’s results:
