Hatton National Bank win Grand Slam
Hatton National Bank defeated McLarens by 3-1 to emerge Grand Slam Champions at the 3rd Inter Firm Doubles Team Championships organized by the Mercantile Badminton Association that was concluded at S. Thomas’ Mount Lavinia Indoor Stadium recently. The tournament was sponsored byb Akzo Nobel Paints Lanka (Private) Limited under the brand name Dulux.
The tournament attracted a record of over 500 particpants from out of 42 teams from 34 companies.
Challenge Trophies, replicas, and certificates as well as merchandise from the sponsors were awarded to the winers, runners-up and those placed third and fourth.
Participation was opened to all permanents employees of all the mercantile establishments that was affiliated to the MBA.
The championship consisted of two men’s doubles, one women’s double, one mixed double and one men’s veterans double. – BM
