Antonians two wins and a loss
View(s):Antonian Sports Club recorded two first innings wins and a first innings defeat after three games played in the ongoing SLC Inter-Club Under-23 Division II cricket tournament. The Antonians gained first innings points against Wennappuwa SC and Kurunegala SC while losing first innings against Old Anandians in their last outing.
In their first game opening bat Sadeem Thawfeeq scored twin fifties to guide Antonians to an easy first innings points win over Wennappuwa SC in their opening match at Wattala. In their second game fine spells of bowling by Nicolo Fernando and Uroshan Chanuka saw Antonians pull off a close first innings points win over Kurunegala SC at Kadirana grounds in Negombo. Antonians were shot out for 124 in their first innings, but hit back to bowl Kurunegala out for 116. It was their second win for the season.
However in their third game Antonian SC suffered their first defeat for the season when they conceded first innings points to Old Anandians at Ananda Mawatha. Antonians were dismissed for 195 in their first innings and Old Anandians replied with 265 with Lakkana Jayasekara and Thamalaka Athulathmudali stroking half centuries. Sonal Dilshan captured five wickets for Antonians. Antonians in their second innings put up a better batting display to score 300-7 with the main contributions coming from Tharindu Madushanka who scored 119 off 126 balls with 13 fours and two sixes and Sadeem Thawfeeq who made 82.
