Former Commonwealth Games weight lifting gold medallist Chinthana Vithanage will return to competitive sports after a lapse of two years when he competes in the 2013 National Sports Festival in Colombo next month.

Vithanage was suspended for two years by the International Weightlifting Federation after he was found guilty of using a banned substance during the 2011 Asian Weightlifting Championships in Beijing while competing in the 69 kg weight class.

The sportsman from Polonnaruwa who has won several international events for his country in the recent past is determined to make a winning start in his comeback trail in an attempt to stamp his class. His ban was lifted on May 13, 2013.
