Solid SC posted wins while two games ended in thrilling draw yesterday. Java Lane recorded an impressive 2-0 win against glamour boys Saunders at City Football Complex in Colombo after both teams failed to score during the first half. At Prison ground in Anuradhapura newcomers to the competition, Solid SC stunned the strong Nandimithra outfit by 3-2 to maintain their stronghold as one of the top teams of the tournament. In a contrasting outcome, newcomers Super Sun suffered a humiliating defeat at their home ground in Beruwela when Navy SC thronged to record an impressive 5-0 lead. However the minnow put up a gallant show to hold their opponents from scoring in the first half which ended at nil-all.

Kalutara Park travelled all the way to Negombo to beat Don Bosco by 2-1 and record their first win of the competition with the inclusion of their new foreign recruit from Africa. Both sides scored during the first half and failed to penetrate each others’ territories after the turnaround. Meanwhile at Kurunegala Pelicans made a strong display to hold the avenging Upcountry Lions to a thrilling 2-all draw. Both teams played up to their potential and made all the scoring during the first half. New Youngs game from behind to salvage a thrilling 2-all draw against Police SC at Wennappuwa. The game was evenly poised as both teams tried to outwit each other as Police led the first half by 1-0. The match between Matara City and Blue Star scheduled to be played at Matara was postponed to another day due as rain forced abandonment.
